Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC will host a Regional Music Conference & Workshop presented by the School of Byzantine Music on October 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. There is no fee to participate in this SBM Conference. Participants are required to register for this SBM Conference.
The Conference Program aims to inspire participants to learn more about our ecclesiastical music tradition and to engage individuals to be more active in their respective music ministries.
To accomplish these aims, the Conference Program will provide an introductory-level overview of the Psaltic Art (more commonly known as Byzantine Chant). It will also feature a workshop series where participants will learn to chant selected hymns of Vespers, Orthros, and Divine Liturgy in a choral manner.
Georgios Theodoridis, SBM Director, and Fr. Panayiotis Steele, SBM Instructor, are the two expert presenters who will also provide instruction to conference participants. You can read more about the presenters here: sbm.goarch.org/faculty
All registered participants are also invited to chant in the choir at live services on October 14th and 15th held at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC.
The School of Byzantine Music is funded in part by the generous support of Leadership 100.
